Dental Bridges

Maintaining a great smile is hard to do when a tooth is lost.  Replacing missing teeth not only restores your smile but returns the ability to chew and talk.  Dr. DiMattia can replace your missing teeth by inserting a dental bridge.

Gaps made by one tooth missing or several teeth can be filled in with false teeth attached to a bridge that is anchored to the existing teeth.  The method of anchoring will depend on the type of bridge chosen.  The false teeth will be made in the same color as the remaining teeth for a natural look or can be made out of materials such as gold if desired.

Traditional bridges are bonded to the back of two crowns placed on the abutting teeth to the gap.  This type of bridge is the most common.

Maryland bridges are chosen for more economical reasons.  The frame is bonded to the back of the natural abutting teeth without adding crowns.

Cantilever bridges can be placed with only one natural tooth is available to attach the bridge.  A single crown is cemented over that tooth, and the bridge is bonded to the back of that crown.

Implant-supported bridges take longer to apply but are the strongest and more stable option available.  Two implants with crowns are placed on each side of the gap.  The bridge is attached to the crowns, like a traditional bridge.
